Skilled Workman – Grade W3/W4 (2–5 Years Experience)
Experienced and skilled factory workers who have progressed through Maruti Suzuki’s internal grading system to W3 or W4 grade earn between ₹30,000 to ₹45,000 per month. At this level, workers handle independent operations, train junior workers, and may take on line-leading responsibilities. Annual performance bonuses (typically 1.5–2.5 months’ salary) significantly enhance the total annual earnings for workers at this grade.
Senior Skilled Workman – Grade W5/W6 (5–10 Years Experience)
Senior workmen at the W5 and W6 grades — the highest workman grades in Maruti Suzuki’s structure — earn between ₹42,000 to ₹55,000 per month. These are experienced workers who have demonstrated exceptional skill, reliability, and institutional knowledge over years of service. At this level, total annual compensation including bonus, PF contribution, and other benefits can exceed ₹7–8 LPA, making these among the best-compensated blue-collar jobs available anywhere in India’s manufacturing sector.
Contract / Contractual Production Worker
Contract workers deployed at Maruti Suzuki plants through authorized manpower contractors earn between ₹14,000 to ₹20,000 per month. While lower than permanent employee salaries, contractual positions are a common and well-recognized entry route into Maruti Suzuki. High-performing contractual workers are regularly absorbed into permanent positions — making this a genuine pathway to a secure Maruti career even for those who cannot get direct permanent entry immediately.
ITI Apprentice (Under Apprenticeship Act 1961)
ITI-qualified apprentices hired under the Apprenticeship Act receive a monthly stipend of ₹8,000 to ₹14,000 during their training period (typically 1–2 years). Maruti Suzuki is one of India’s largest apprenticeship employers under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). After successfully completing the apprenticeship, top performers are given priority consideration for permanent production associate roles.
Diploma Technician / Junior Engineer (Shop Floor)
Diploma holders in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, or Production Engineering hired for shop floor technician roles earn between ₹22,000 to ₹38,000 per month as freshers, with experienced diploma technicians earning up to ₹45,000–₹55,000 per month. These workers handle machine maintenance, process monitoring, quality checking, and production coordination alongside the production workforce.

Eligibility Criteria for Maruti Suzuki Factory Worker Jobs
Understanding the exact eligibility requirements before you apply saves time and ensures your application is competitive. Here is what Maruti Suzuki requires for factory and production roles across its plants in 2026:
Educational Qualification
For General Workman and Production Associate roles, the minimum educational requirement is a 10th class (SSC) pass certificate with at least 50% marks, combined with an ITI certificate in a relevant trade from an NCVT or SCVT affiliated institute. Candidates with 12th class (Science stream) plus ITI are preferred. For diploma-level technician roles, a full-time 3-year Government Polytechnic Diploma in the relevant engineering stream is required with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
Age Requirement
The standard age requirement for Maruti Suzuki factory worker and apprenticeship positions is 18 to 28 years for fresh/entry-level candidates. Age relaxation of 2–3 years is typically given for OBC candidates and 5 years for SC/ST candidates as per company policy. For experienced lateral hires, the upper age limit is generally relaxed based on experience level.
Physical Fitness
Factory production work at Maruti Suzuki requires physical fitness and stamina. Candidates must be in good physical health with no major orthopaedic, cardiovascular, or respiratory conditions that would prevent safe performance of production floor duties. A medical examination is conducted as part of the selection process before the final offer letter is issued.
Additional Preferred Skills
Candidates who stand out in the Maruti Suzuki selection process typically have a basic understanding of automobile manufacturing processes, familiarity with safety protocols and 5S housekeeping standards, the ability to read simple engineering drawings or work instructions, basic computer literacy for production reporting systems, and a positive attitude toward continuous learning and skill upgrading.
How to Prepare for Maruti Suzuki Factory Walk-In Selection
Prepare thoroughly for the written test. The aptitude test at Maruti Suzuki walk-in drives covers basic mathematics (calculations, fractions, percentages, ratios), logical reasoning, and trade-specific technical questions. For fitter trades, expect questions on basic workshop calculations, fits and tolerances, and hand tool identification. For electricians, basic circuit theory, electrical safety, and motor fundamentals are tested. Practice previous year ITI trade theory papers and basic aptitude from sources like ITI EduTech Practice Papers.
Dress professionally and arrive early. Walk-in drives at Maruti Suzuki can attract hundreds of candidates. Arriving early means shorter queues, more time with interviewers, and demonstrates punctuality — a quality Maruti Suzuki explicitly values in its factory workforce.
Keep all documents organized in a folder. Disorganized documentation is one of the most common reasons candidates make a poor first impression at walk-in drives. Carry all originals and 2 photocopies of each document in a proper folder, arranged in chronological order from 10th certificate to most recent qualification.
Be clear about your ITI trade and its applications. In the technical interview, Maruti Suzuki interviewers will test your practical knowledge of your trade. Be ready to describe the tools you use, the processes you understand, any projects you completed during ITI training, and what shop floor work you have done if you have prior experience.
