Maruti Suzuki’s Technology Transformation – Why 2026 Is a Career-Defining Moment
For decades, Maruti Suzuki dominated India’s automotive market through manufacturing efficiency, distribution reach, and affordable pricing. But the landscape is fundamentally changing. The Indian government’s FAME III policy, aggressive EV adoption targets, the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for advanced automotive technology, and fierce competition from Tata Motors, Hyundai, and new EV-only players have pushed Maruti Suzuki into a full-scale technology transformation.
The company’s parent, Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan, has committed to launching multiple electric vehicles in India starting with the e Vitara — India’s most anticipated mass-market electric SUV — built at Maruti Suzuki’s brand-new, state-of-the-art Kharkhoda plant in Haryana, which is currently under construction and expected to begin production in 2025–2026. This single facility alone is creating thousands of new technology-forward jobs that blend traditional automotive manufacturing with cutting-edge EV and digital engineering.

Beyond the Kharkhoda plant, Maruti Suzuki has established a dedicated R&D Centre in Rohtak, Haryana — one of the largest automotive R&D facilities in Asia — where engineers work on next-generation powertrains, vehicle dynamics, safety systems, connected vehicle technology, and EV battery integration. The Rohtak R&D Centre is aggressively expanding its headcount in 2026 across every engineering discipline.
Maruti Suzuki has also partnered with Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) and launched collaborations with IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and BITS Pilani for joint research in EV technology, hydrogen fuel cells, and autonomous driving — creating academic-industry pathways that are genuinely unique in India’s automotive sector.

How to Build Your Career at Maruti Suzuki Technology in 2026 – Expert Tips
Get EV-certified before applying. Maruti Suzuki gives strong preference to candidates who already hold recognized EV technology certifications. The ASDC (Automotive Skills Development Council) offers EV-specific courses recognized by automotive OEMs including Maruti Suzuki. Enroll at ASDC India – EV Courses. Additionally, Coursera and NPTEL offer excellent free and paid EV technology courses from IIT faculty that are well-regarded by Maruti Suzuki’s HR teams. Browse relevant courses at Coursera – Electric Vehicle Engineering Courses and NPTEL – Automotive & EV Courses.
Target Maruti Suzuki’s campus programs. MSIL conducts structured campus recruitment at IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, NIT Trichy, NIT Surathkal, BITS Pilani, and top management institutes for EV engineering, software, and product management roles. The Maruti Suzuki Summer Internship Program at the Rohtak Technical Centre is a well-known pathway — many full-time offers are made to high-performing interns. Follow Maruti Suzuki India on LinkedIn for campus recruitment announcements throughout the year.
Build a project portfolio around automotive technology. Whether it is a personal EV battery BMS project on GitHub, a published paper on vehicle dynamics simulation, a data science project using publicly available vehicle telematics data, or a connected car IoT prototype — having tangible, demonstrable work dramatically increases your chances of standing out in Maruti Suzuki’s technology hiring process. Recruiters at MSIL’s R&D and digital teams actively look for candidates who build things beyond their coursework.
Prepare for Maruti Suzuki’s technical assessment process. Technology and engineering roles at Maruti Suzuki typically involve a technical written test or online assessment, followed by one or two technical interview rounds (assessing domain knowledge and problem-solving), and a final HR interview. For R&D roles, candidates may be asked to present a technical project or solve a domain-specific case study. Preparing specifically for automotive engineering questions — EV drivetrains, vehicle electronics, AUTOSAR architecture, or data pipeline design depending on your role — is essential.
